Accelerating Change 04

At Accelerating Change 04 I got to hear and see some amazing speakers present their views of the future virtual spaces, interface, and physical space was a fantastic experience. Some of the highlights were Will Wright – designer of the Sims, Cory Ondrejka of Linden Labs, Sony’s Richard Marks, Brad Tempelton from EFF, David Brin, and Doug Engelbart.

The kernel that I take away form the conference is that just as Doug Engelbart was a pioneer, no one truly paid attention to the work he was doing early on. There are technological advances and savants all around us and as change leaders we need to actively seek them out. As much as we need to consider and think of the future, we need to work with those working to make the future a reality.

Jerry Paffendorf and I postulated who the next Engelbart was … we think it may be John Smart … that or Jerry was sucking up to his boss!
