If only it were a $1 a month. If you read the fee structure carefully and sit down with a spreadsheet, you will be paying at least $240 to organize a group (up to 720 to organize the maximum of 3). If you ignore tax law, and try to collect admission fees, then attendees will have to pay anywhere from $4 to $20 a month, since the vast majority of meetup I've ever been to are attended by 1-5 people. You'd need regular attendance by 20 people and convince them all to split the bill. I went to a grand total of 1 meetup event with an attendance of 20 and that was a one time event due to the election. This is not a business model shift, this is jumping the shark.
