Sony launched a virtual community with its PS3 game console as the platform. The graphics are very crisp (you are using a PS3) and the interface looks easy enough to use. Users get personal space where they can share the contents of their PS3 hard drive, think movies, music, and other file types, with others. Someone said to me - hey looks like SL only pretty ... and I though about the main points of divergence.
The item that jumped up immediately was the absence of peer to peer commerce, and the ownership of the content you create. You can buy cool items from Sony in the future, just not from other people. I I looked for content creation tools and saw none. Ok, not really like SL is it. Then I considered the copyright issues that are involved in displaying media, is this kind of activity included in 'fair use' or since it is Sony they will re-write the rules to include streaming and displaying copyrighted media in media-giant-owned virtual worlds. It seemed less a collaborative community and more like a space for gamers to meet and then retreat into their multi-player PS3 game systems.

The latest console tech like the PS3 is the "creme de la creme" of all console we have yesterday and today. IMHO, PS3 is way better than Wii or XBox 360.
