[x] Yes, and you *must* use my real name.
1. Why do you use Twitter? What do you like/dislike about it?
I use Twitter to communicate moments of relative importance to whomever is listening. I try not to think about how it will be received, but ultimately I know that what I twitter is how some people see me. I like that it is simple and easy to use, and I dislike that I ca not filter incoming messages for content that I may find relevant. The people I follow are relevant but sometimes not what they do.
2. Who do you think is reading your Tweets? Is this the audience you want? Why/why not? Tell me anything you think of relating to the audience for your Tweets.
I know who is reading my tweets. I see them and know, for the most part, who they are. I am not real sure if I get to choose my audience since I don't really want to go to private mode. There are some people who are following me that I wish were not, but I try not to think of that when I tweet. If I cared that much I'd go private ... right after I tweeted why I was going private.
3. How do you read others' Tweets? Do you read all of them? Who do you read/not read and why? Do you know them all?
I log onto twitter from time to time and check in on who is doing what. I only use the cellphone mode when I am at conferences and traveling with groups of twitter users. I do not read all of them. No way. I tend to read the ones from people I want to know about at the moment. I know everyone I follow.
4. What content do you think is appropriate for a Tweet? What is inappropriate? Have you ever found yourself wanting to Tweet and then deciding against it? Why?
Anything can be a tweet. I think it should only be limited by one's own tolerance of embarrassment. Tweet that you just got a first kiss, or got to drunk and ended up in local drunk tank. Just know it is out there and everyone could know about it. I have stopped mid-tweet and thought about how it would look, is it relevant to my followers, do I want it on my permanent record? Most of the time I send it anyway and say forget it! I recognize this is public and it is me so .... I try to put my best face forward. Nothing is private anymore!
5. Are your Tweets public? Why/why not? How do you feel about people you don't know coming across them? What about people you do know?
I think I covered this fairly well already.
6. What do i need to know about why Twitter is/is not working for you or your friends?
it is a novelty to me. Low effort, and I get value from it when I want value. It is great in that way so long as you are not a presence-junky! If you always need to see and be seen then it is a great tool. If you can unplug and feel ok doing it, like you are not going to 'miss something' it is also a great tool. You just can not get mad when you finally twitter that you are twittering.
