Machinima Film Debuts at SLCC

I was real pleased that Millions Of Us were able to debut and announce that one of their machinima projects had been purchased by HBO. They were gracious and screened some pieces of the series and then also gave us the opportunity to ave a great q&a session with the writer and the producer Douglas Gayeton. The news is making the circuit so I am pleased we were able to premier it.

SLCC Begins and IBM Continued to Invest in Virtual Communities

Well the good news is the Second Life Community Convention is sold out. The bad news is that there are still people who are itching to get in. Sorry folks - we will have details about next years event up soon!
I continue to be impressed with the IBM presence and activity in SL and how they are embracing the event and the medium making the most full use of the power of the system. The kick is that The American Cancer Society's Second Life Relay For Life beat them to it.

McArthur and Global Kids to come to SLCC

As part of the McArthur Foundation's involvement in virtual world research they are participating in the 2007 Second Life Community Conference through the Global Kids agency. Global Kids is setting up a very special sub track that will focus on youth and non-profit initiatives. They are offering 4 panels throughout the weekend in each of the four interest areas; Education, Business, Social, and Machinima. We are very excited to have them participating because it add additional rich content to the already full schedule. Below is the Press release.

Second Life Community Convention puts out Standards

SLCC recently put out their Community Standards. It is a real honest attempt to insure the best possible experience for the presenters, attendees, and the board. It was not easy to come by and there were numerous considerations including Union rules. media broadcasting agreements, and holding everyone to a minimum standard of behavior conducive to community building. I'm proud of the baseline we have and have seen good feedback so far.

The rate is $159.00 for a single and $179.00 for a double room plus tax.  They will charge a deposit of one night in advance. It will be returned if you cancel at least 3 days before the event ... for any reason! There is also a designated number of hotel rooms blocked out so reserve now to secure the lower group rate.
